Did you know that Rats will sleep in trees? I didn't.
I researched and found that this particular species quite often live in trees and other areas of high vegetation. http://www.nsrl.ttu.edu/tmot1/rattratt.htm
Known as the roof rat, they are extremely common in the gulf coast areas. I believe that this little guy must be someone's lost pet. He was very tame and very well groomed.

Morning Coffee
Every morning I sit in my front yard and drink a few cups of java to start the day. As time has gone by, I've noticed a veritable zoo in my front yard. It is interesting to me just how full of life that a small front yard can be.
I've decided to document some of this "wildlife" and share it with you as we go along.
This picture is of "Larry" the lizard... at least thats what I call him. All summer long he has joined me for my morning coffee. Rain or shine, he has been there to greet me as I start my day.
I'll truly miss him when he hibernates as winter approaches.
